WCSMPA China Seafood Delegation has finished visiting in China & HK and return to Vancouver on Nov. 15, 2005.
WCSMPA Delegation received the warm welcome in Guangzhou by Guangdong Fishery Association. They hosted the welcome dinner for delegates in Guangzhou Garden Hotel on Nov. 8, 2005. The participants of Guangzhou Government include Mr. Ye Huan Qiang of Guangdong Ocean & Fishery Administration; Mr. Fang Jianmin of General Manager of Guangyuan Fishery Group Co., Ltd. and Mr. Yao Guocheng, Director of Guangdong Aquatic Products Technical Extension General Station, etc.
Western Canada Seafood Merchants & Processors Association signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Guangdong Fishery Association on Nov. 9, 2005. Tim Coughlin, Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou Territory attended the ceremony and witnessed the signing. After that, delegates presented their company’s slide show and introduced their products to the invited guests. Finally the President, Vice President and directors of WCSMPA exchanged the souvenir with Guangdong Fishery Association and Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou Territory.
The delegation has visited Guangzhou Huangsha Aquatic Product Transaction Market, the 10th Fisheries and Seafood Expo, Zhongshan Aquatic Products and Foodstuff Imp. & Exp. Co., Huidong Sea Turtle Protection Station, Huidong Abalone Farm and Dayawan Fishery Development Centre in the following days. The delegation was accorded a cordial reception wherever they were in China by the local government and organizations. It was a really fruitful and informative trip as WCSMPA has explored a closer cooperation relationship with Guangdong Fisheries Association and all the delegates have gained a better understanding of the current seafood industry in China.
